Alekay had been scouting with Willow by his side, the bay mare simply refusing to be left alone with Hotshot. The dun stallion was rowdy and often liked to chat up a storm or play some unwanted games… so when it came time for Alekay to look around she jumped at the chance to be away from him. All she'd say on the matter was, “I don't like his attitude”, the splash couldn't help but roll his eyes in amusement at her; she stuck close to his side with every step he took, her crushed juniper and pine needles scent making him feel comfortable even in Unknown territory but the feeling was quickly swept away by hot coppery twang of fresh blood which sent his heart a racing

Bobbing his head at Willow he motioned for her to stay where she was, she nickered back at him with a worried look but after a small smile from her stallion the look fell away and was replaced by longing instead. Slowly he followed the smell till the trees parted, opening up to a small brook nestled in a circular dish clear of trees… he wasn't alone though in the small oasis, a bay painted mare hurried back and forth from the brook, she went from the water to a pale lump a few metres away. Her voice couldn't be heard over the water so Alekay decided to step closer, there was a warning in his heart that something was wrong and it only grew as the scent of blood grew stronger

It wasn't till he was but three metres away that the mare noticed him, her ears flattening at the sight of him. She stomped her hooves warningly before hovering back to where she had started… now he could see for what if was, this mare was protecting another mare, her pale body lay strewn in the long grass, flashes and smears of blood touched almost every blade; to his dismay a long shaft protruded from her shoulder and he could only take one guess as to what it was. With a flick of his tail he made to step forward but was blocked by the grullo, “Stay back!” she tried to his at him but her voice just came out in shaky waves, “Please leave us be… s-she needs me I can't leave her”.

At her words Alekay took a step back and headed towards the brook, he lowered his lips to the water and sucked up as much as he could fit in his mouth before returning to his previous position. The grullo mare gave him a funny look as he motioned towards her friend, she almost panicked as he went near but stopped herself at the pale mare lifted her head just a little. All he had to do was press his nose to his and she got the message… she lifted her head as high as she could and allowed him to splash the water in her mouth. Once he was done he gave a smile, “I can help” he told them both quietly, “But I can't do it alone, come with me and I can help you both” the grullo looked apprehensive, even if the cremello gave her a pleading look, could she trust him?
